FONT REMY is the former manor house of Le Petit Village, a peaceful hamlet set amongst vineyards 2km inland from the pretty fishing village of Mortagne-sur-Gironde in the sunny Charente-Maritime - just 20 minutes from the sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast. It has been tastefully converted into four cottages, sleeping 10, 10, 6 and 6 and is set in a walled garden of 2 acres (pictured below).  

Each house has been sympathetically restored with exposed beams and stone walls and has its own terrace with wooden patio furniture, sunloungers and gas bbqs. There is a lovely heated and fenced 15m x 8m swimming pool with roman steps at the shallow end, swings, seesaw, a boules pitch, badminton and plenty of space for ball games. In the games' barn there are lots of games and books, a children's corner with dvds and videos, plus table tennis and pool table and table football. Tennis, go-karting, horse riding, golf, sailing, bikes and boat hire are all available locally. Each house has WiFi, satellite television and a dvd/cd player.

Toddler friendly: cots, highchairs and stairgates are available at no extra charge.

Mortagne has a bakers, butchers, small supermarket and bars and restaurants overlooking the boats in the port. It is a 20 minute walk or 5 minute cycle ride down a country lane through the vineyards to get your croissants in the morning.

La Rochelle and Bordeaux airports are just over an hour away.  By car the journey is 7 hours from Calais, 5 from Caen or St Malo.
